Family weddings are always awesome and to be the photographer at one of my own…. well that’s just a huge privilege and blessing!
From the moment Driaan & Ilze decided they wanted me to be their wedding photographer I was excited.
On our arrival the Friday, and the 10km gravel road to the venue – which takes you about half an hour to travel – I was watching the sunset and realized that we wouldn’t have a lot of time on their wedding day for the couple shoot after their ceremony – but o wow what a beautiful sunset we were to have, the light in the Loskopvallei mountains are just beautiful.
We got to spend the wedding weekend with the family and Bridal Couple with a spit-braai the Friday evening – with a bit of generator drama plunging us into darkness -, Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday morning, and their beautiful wedding (at the same venue) on Saturday afternoon.
Their Wedding Day at Goedgedacht Wedding Venue arrived chilly and sunny on Saturday and I couldn’t wait to start capturing their memories.
First up I entered the reception hall and I was reminded of a Fairy Tale with their choice of decor – Pink Roses fitted on Golden Pumpkins, with every detail fit for the marriage of these two. From here I moved between the Groom and Bride to capture their details and preparations, the Ceremony, their Couple shoot at the ‘Bok Stoor’ on the farm and their beautiful reception – where Melktertjies were used for the Toasts instead of champagne.
Their wedding was certainly one for the books filled with tons of memories for them…… From Generator power failure, no hot water for the bride, to tears when the Bride sees her Dad, the Groom having tears in his eyes when he first saw his Bride to a great party at the Reception.
Driaan & Ilze, you two are stunning! Thank you for having me as your photographer capturing this memorable day in your life. My wish for you is this: All I want for you is to have a happy married life, filled with love for each other.
